In 1999 Ken Davis lead the design of this project at Custance Associates for the conversion of this vacant 4 level office building into 45 x 1–2 bedroom apartments with a separate 3 bedroom rooftop apartment.
A show apartment was built to assist with marketing the development with all apartments selling in 3 weeks
The project won an NZIA Local Architecture Award for Urban Design in 2001with the Award citation reading:
“With equal measures of style and restraint these two buildings have been transposed from 1960’s leftovers to a measurable contribution to the maturing urbanity of Willis Street. With a tight budget the architect has crafted interior spaces of utilitarian simplicity.” NZIA Award Judges
